The refraction of light caused by a differential of heat levels creates wavy lines in our vision - the cause of mirages in the desert or the warped air above a barbecue. HOT is a concert event which takes heat, both natural and man-made as the starting point, equating refracted air with sound waves. The music in the programme blends with and includes the ambience from Domen, passing ships and sounds from Aarhus Havn. Beginning with only acoustic sound, there is a slow incorporation of mechanical appliances, electronic processing and artificial heat sources, creating a narrative of increasing human impact on the concert environment. The final piece, Eva-Maria Houben's 'I only went out for a walk' invites the audience outside onto the artificial dunes surrounding Domen.
